Reading in the Desert

…a bookworm in Dubai

About

Welcome to my blog. I am a 40 year old former chartered accountant but now a stay-at-home mother of two children aged 11 and 89. We have lived in Dubai for nearly 5 years now and are very much settled here. Although I love the lifestyle I need to engage my brain now and again so I decided to create this blog. I love the desert, it is dramatically beautiful and utterly quiet and peaceful and is the ideal place to get lost in a really good book.

I have an eclectic taste in books and will read pretty much anything and everything. I’m intrigued and inspired by book prizes, book clubs and lists of books to read and I have spent quite a lot of time archiving major book prizes on my blog and I link my reviews to them. Over time this blog will grow as I read more and more books so hopefully it’ll get more and more interesting.

I am delighted if anyone reads what I have written and I’d be ecstatic if they found it useful and enjoyable. I am also quite happy talking to myself, although I love a good debate and would love to hear other people’s views on the books I’ve read, whether they agree with me or not.

I hope you enjoy and make use of my blog and I welcome your comments.

Liz
